La mission, sise \u00e0 la jonction entre la ligne de la Lower Laurentian Railway allant vers Garneau Jonction et la ligne en construction de la Quebec and Lake St-John Railway reliant Qu\u00e9bec au lac Saint-Jean, conna\u00eetra un essor d\u00e9mographique et \u00e9conomique consid\u00e9rable. Ainsi de nombreux colons arrivent afin d\u2019occuper le territoire et voir \u00e0 l\u2019exploitation foresti\u00e8re et agricole qui sont l\u2019essence m\u00eame de la colonisation entre 1883 et 1886. On esp\u00e8re bien \u00e0 ce moment que ce centre ferroviaire am\u00e8nera avec lui la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9. C\u2019est \u00e9galement au milieu des ann\u00e9es 1880 que d\u00e9bute l\u2019exploitation des bancs de granite.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abRivi\u00e8re-\u00e0-Pierre promet de devenir un endroit tr\u00e8s fr\u00e9quent\u00e9. Plusieurs maisons s\u2019y sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 install\u00e9es parmi lesquelles un b\u00e2timent de soixante pieds de long, au toit mansard\u00e9 qui sert d\u2019h\u00f4tel\u00bb.&nbsp;(Charles Baillarg\u00e9, architecte, arpenteur, ing\u00e9nieur civil et auteur, n\u00e9 le 29 septembre 1826 \u00e0 Qu\u00e9bec)<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est en 1887 qu\u2019arrive le premier agent de la gare de Rivi\u00e8re-\u00e0-Pierre Jonction, M. Ars\u00e8ne L\u00e9vesque, et que M. Honor\u00e9 Mercier, alors Premier Ministre de la province, inaugure la ligne compl\u00e9t\u00e9e reliant Qu\u00e9bec au Lac-Saint-Jean. Il sera ainsi le premier chef du gouvernement \u00e0 faire un voyage dans la r\u00e9gion, prouvant son int\u00e9r\u00eat pour la colonisation. Sa visite eut un grand retentissement et des cons\u00e9quences politiques consid\u00e9rables puisqu\u2019\u00e0 son retour \u00abdans la grande ville\u00bb, M. Mercier annonce la fondation d\u2019un minist\u00e8re sp\u00e9cial pour l\u2019Agriculture et la Colonisation. Incit\u00e9s par le clerg\u00e9, les hommes politiques veulent la construction de chemins de fer pour cr\u00e9er une communication facile entre les terres qu\u00e9b\u00e9coises et les centres urbains. Ils veulent \u00e9galement faciliter la colonisation des terres non d\u00e9frich\u00e9es.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gare est ferm\u00e9e pour l\u2019op\u00e9ration des trains de marchandises depuis le 30 mars 1989. De m\u00eame, le tron\u00e7on ferroviaire reliant Rivi\u00e8re-\u00e0-Pierre \u00e0 Qu\u00e9bec via Saint-Raymond a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9am\u00e9nag\u00e9 en piste cyclable en 1998. Le Canadian National utilise toujours la ligne ferroviaire traversant le village de Rivi\u00e8re-\u00e0-Pierre pour le transport de bois, d\u2019aluminium ou tout autre mat\u00e9riau. Acquise par la municipalit\u00e9 de Rivi\u00e8re-\u00e0-Pierre en 2015, la gare demeure ouverte aux passagers de Via Rail Canada voyageant vers le Lac Saint-Jean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photos : G\u00e9rald
