Les travaux s\u2019\u00e9chelonnent sur une p\u00e9riode de deux ans et sont ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s selon les plans de l\u2019ing\u00e9nieur Charles Shaler Smith. En 1887, le pont Saint-Laurent ouvre \u00e0 la circulation ferroviaire et permet de relier Lachine (Montr\u00e9al) aux Etats-Unis. Sur le plan local, avec la nouvelle gare des Highlands b\u00e2tie en 1890, la municipalit\u00e9 de la paroisse des Saints-Anges de Lachine sort lentement de son isolement. Le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique progresse peu \u00e0 peu. Le secteur demeure fortement rural, l\u2019urbanisation n\u2019est pas encore \u00e0 l\u2019ordre du jour. La gare des Highlands deviendra la gare de LaSalle en 1938, \u00e0 la suite de pressions du conseil municipal de LaSalle. Le b\u00e2timent existe encore aujourd\u2019hui. Le site sert de lieu de transit pour les voyageurs qui souhaitent se rendre au centre ville de Montr\u00e9al.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Source :<a
