Son travail initie\u00a0la construction d\u2019une voie ferr\u00e9e qui sortira le Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean de son isolement et par le fait m\u00eame donnera acc\u00e8s aux for\u00eats et lacs de la Mauricie. Ainsi, ouvrant lentement la voie \u00e0 la colonisation dans une r\u00e9gion que plusieurs consid\u00e8rent \u00e0 ce moment comme \u00ab un territoire inhabit\u00e9, voire inhabitable, et qui ne pourrait jamais int\u00e9resser que les chasseurs d\u2019orignaux, ce g\u00e9ant des for\u00eats \u00bb. Fait de bois d\u2019\u00e9rable recouvert d\u2019une lisse en m\u00e9tal, le chemin de fer connait un d\u00e9part difficile avant de reprendre du service en 1885 gr\u00e2ce aux subventions gouvernementales. En 1888, le tron\u00e7on menant \u00e0 Chambord est inaugur\u00e9 par l\u2019honorable Honor\u00e9 Mercier, alors premier ministre du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Incendi\u00e9e en 1900, la gare de\u00a0<em>Lake Edward<\/em>\u00a0est reconstruite en 1906 par la Compagnie Qu\u00e9bec-Lac-Saint-Jean, alors propri\u00e9taire.\u00a0La gare de\u00a0<em>Lake Edward<\/em>\u00a0occupe une place importante dans l\u2019histoire de la Haute-Mauricie.\u00a0 Cette derni\u00e8re a permis \u00e0 de nombreuses familles de s\u2019y rendre et de s\u2019y\u2019installer et ce d\u00e8s 1915.\u00a0 Les clubs priv\u00e9s, qui ont \u00e9galement profit\u00e9 du d\u00e9veloppement du train, procuraient travail et logis \u00e0 plusieurs familles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le chemin de fer est aujourd\u2019hui propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de VIA Rail qui offre des liaisons r\u00e9guli\u00e8res notamment aux nombreux p\u00eacheurs qui viennent dans la r\u00e9gion.\u00a0 \u00a0Deux\u00a0choix s\u2019offrent \u00e0 vous : Montr\u00e9al-Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean (avec arr\u00eat au Lac-\u00c9douard)\u00a0ou Montr\u00e9al-Abitibi (avec arr\u00eats \u00e0 La Tuque, Parent\u00a0et\u00a0Clova). Certains diront que c\u2019est un voyage mythique \u00e0 faire au moins une fois dans sa vie. Plusieurs pourvoiries, certaines \u00e9tant d\u2019anciens clubs priv\u00e9s,\u00a0 sont d\u2019ailleurs accessibles via la ligne de train.\u00a0Vous\u00a0n\u2019avez\u00a0qu\u2019\u00e0 signaler la borne kilom\u00e9trique o\u00f9\u00a0vous d\u00e9sirez descendre et\u00a0l\u2019on vous d\u00e9posera sur le quai avant de vous y reprendre quelques jours plus tard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
